SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21,2023
PRESENT: Police Chief Brian Baker, Marcie Claus, Comell Collins, Deputy Chief Nicholas Eschner, Scott Ford, Paul

CALL TO ORDER AND APPRQVALOf THEMINUTES
Chairperson Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes of the May 17th meeting were approved.
POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT
Chief Baker gave the Police Department Report. Currently six vacancies within the Department, but hopefully they will be filled
soon. Recently purchased a new drone. The pertinent state law now more widely allows drone use in police operations. QA
discussion followed.
FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT
Deputy Chief Eschner gave the Fire Department Report. Call volumes are still up. On track for more calls than last year, which was
the highest volume received. QA discussion followed.
ENGINEERING REPORT
Russ Rietveld gave the Engineering Report. The PSC safety tips were posted on the Village website at the end of May. The tips
were/will be published in SkokieNews 6/6, 6/13 and 6/27. Gross Point Road construction started this week. Detour will commence in
two to three weeks. Nicor construction on Oakton will not be an issue with the July 4fil parade. Provided follow up on items from last
time. QA discussion followed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Chauperson Kushner expressed concerns about RRFB push button location/arrangement and asked if the southern eastbound lanes at
both the Howard St and Lmcoin Ave and Howard St and Skokie Blvd intersections could be converted to right turn lanes.
NEW BUSINESS
A group picture was taken and Chairperson Pitalis mentioned that anyone interested m riding in the July 4th parade should meet at
Oakton College around 11 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT
At 8:16 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
