SKQKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, April 17, 2024 PRESENT: Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Connell Collins, Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Mitchell Kushner, Kimanl Levy Ibriham Mansuri, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Fred Moore, Mark Penning, Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Leslie Post- Weissinger, Dennis Rizo, Howard Rosenburg, Jeffrey Schvimer, Bryant Smith and Vice Chairperson Melissa Villegas EXCUSED: Marcie Claus, Fire Chief Jeff HoefUch, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Paul Kruszynski, Linda Perlin, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Doug Rocklin, Director of Public Works Max Slankard, and Trustee Edie Sue Sutker ABSENT: Scott Ford, and Nicholas Vickers CALLTQQRDEB^^p APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Quorum has been obtained. The minutes of March 20th meeting were approved. Mary AKA America the PD comfort dog was announced an honorary member. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chairperson Pitalis encouraged all members to attend their respective BEAT meetings that are held quarterly. Chief Jesse Bames presented the Police Department March Report. Chief discussed some of the staffing updates, 3 candidates are in the police academy and 4 sergeants have been promoted. QA discussion followed. Detective Dale Anderson presented on investitive methods and touched upon his involvement in NORTAF. Detective Dale Anderson has been a detective for 8 years. He discussed a case study and some of the methods use to solve the crime. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Deputy Chief Nick Eschner gave the Fire Department report. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Samantha Maximilian provided the Engineering report and discussed the three major bridge projects that have commenced. The 2024 Capital Improvements Projects Map will be presented at the next monthly meeting. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS Chief Bames let the commission know that the Use of Force Review Board may convene in August. Chief is preparing all the body worn camera incidents to be send to the review board likely in May. ADJOURNMENT At 8:07 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
