SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2024 PRESENT: Michael Anderson, Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Connell Collins, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Fred Moore, Paul Pitalis, Vice Chairman Dennis Rizo, Howard Rosenburg, Chairman Melissa Villegas, Scott Ford, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld and Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin EXCUSED: Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Deputy Chief Denise Franklin, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Avron Kahn, Paul Kruszynski, Kimani Levy, Ibriham Mansuri, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Deputy Chief John Oakley, Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Mark Penning, Jeffrey Schvimer and Trustee Edie Sue Sutker ABSENT: Marcie Claus and Bryant Smith CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Melissa Villegas called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of the October 15th meeting were approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Fire Chief Hoeflich presented the November Report. Trainees are progressing. Staff is seeking additional grant funding for a new ambulance and a small building addition. A new Incident Command Vehicle is about to be put into service. QA discussion followed. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Police Chief Barnes presented the November Report. Three recruits completed Academy and began training. Two recruits starting Academy. Six new vehicles are being outfitted and will be introduced to the fleet soon. Pursuing grants to increase officer wellness. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ Rietveld provided an update on current construction projects. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS A discussion was had about possible future presentation topics. Russ will circulate an email to commissioners gauging interest on possible topics. ADJOURNMENT At 8:16 p.m. a motion to adjourn was made by Dennis, Michael seconded and all approved.
