SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2025 PRESENT: Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Connell Collins, Avron Kahn, Fred Moore, Paul Pitalis, Howard Rosenburg, Transportation Engineer Erik Sanchez, Jeffrey Schvimer, Chairman Melissa Villegas, Marcie Claus, Scott Ford, Kimani Levy, Vice Chairman Dennis Rizo and Trustee Edie Sue Sutker EXCUSED: Michael Anderson, Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Deputy Chief Denise Franklin, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Deputy Chief John Oakley, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld and Director of Public Works Max Slankard ABSENT: Paul Kruszynski, Mark Penning and Bryant Smith CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Melissa Villegas called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of the March 19th meeting were approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Deputy Chief Oakley reviewed the PD March Report and gave a presentation on the Skokie Police Department 2025 Awards. Chief presented each individual award and how each honored member went above and beyond to protect the public. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Deputy Chief Eschner presented the FD March Report. Statistics were similar when comparing last year. Response times were better this year. The Fire Department shared that the award ceremony is upcoming. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Erik Sanchez provided updates on current and upcoming projects. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS The Skokie Police Station was mentioned to be part of a tour for the Public Safety Commission. ADJOURNMENT At 8:23 p.m. the meeting was adjourned.
