SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2025 PRESENT: Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Scott Ford, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Paul Kruszynski, Fred Moore, Paul Pitalis (Emeritus), Leslie Post-Weissinger, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Vice Chairman Dennis Rizo, Jeffrey Schvimer and Chairman Melissa Villegas EXCUSED: Michael Anderson, Fire DC Nicholas Eschner, Police DC Denise Franklin, Fire DC Stephen Jagman, Avron Kahn, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Police DC John Oakley, Mark Penning, Howard Rosenburg and Director of Public Works Max Slankard ABSENT: Marcie Claus, Connell Collins and Bryant Smith CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Melissa Villegas called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of the May 21, 2025 meeting were approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Barnes reviewed the PD May Report. Recruitment/retention remains a primary focus. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Hoeflich presented the FD May Report. Working on the reaccreditation process. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ reviewed the 2025 construction map and discussed projects. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Promotion of the upcoming 25 MPH speed limit was discussed. NEW BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT At 8:20 p.m. a motion was made by Jeff S and seconded by Dennis and the meeting was adjourned.
