Skokie Telecommunications and Technology (STAT) Commission Meeting Minutes Da+e: Tuesday January 31, 2023 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Skokie Village Hal! Conference Room A Attendees: Sam Cordone, Alex Franz, Scott Shamberg, Ken Grossman and Baccet levy. Virtual attendance by Chris Oh, Syed Mahmood, Jimmy Gonzalez and Avi Nutkis. Absent: Nines Youkhana and Fran Roehm. 1. Welcome & introductions Sam called the meeting to order. 2. Approve minutes from December 15,2022 Motion from Scott and seconded by Ken. All approved. 3. Discussion Programming • CUB Solar Energy Event Fran and Baccet have begun working on the event and will have further discussions in the coming week. Sam further reminded the group that Peter Gore and CUB are two separate events. • CUB Saver Event Sam explained that the event wiil be at Devonshire Cultural Center. The goal is to have the event in March. • Cyber Security Program Avi expiained that he has bene in contact with Sgt. Brand! Shelton of the Skokie Po!ice Department and is coordinating the event. The event wltl be on May 4, 2023. Avi and Scott wit! finalize the presentation and send Alex the press releases. Aiex and AvE also will work on developing a registration for attendees. • Home Medical Technology Sam explained that he does not have notes on the event like he had previously thought. He and Alex will work to get a contact from Health. • Technology for Skokie Residents & Businesses: o Tech for Families Communicating with International Families Scott and Sam will continue to brainstorm ideas and put together more information. Baccet explained that he uses WhatsApp and Ken said that he uses Viber Messenger to communicate with their families that are overseas. o Technology Glossary Avi wil! continue to work on this and encourages commissioners to send him information. o Survey Residents & Businesses on Technology Questions Sam wil! share the old survey with Scott. Baccet suggested that the commission tap into the 5 Essentials Survey. • Village Science Fair Award Program The event is scheduled for March 4. The waik through by the Commissioner could begin as early as 9 a.m. Sam has a judgement form that he wilt share with the group. The award ceremony wili begin at 2:45 p.m. • Technological Excellence Award Jimmy explained that this award would be for businesses and/or residents that exemplify technological innovations. The award would foilow a simiiar approach to the Fine Arts Award. Syed volunteered to assist Avj. • Science & Technology Park Aiex sent over the Tech Park contact and Scott wif! reach out. • STAT Website - How the Village is Using Tech Avi and Chris wiii connect and begin brainstomning ideas. Alex explained that if the group wanted to create videos, it requires a 4-6 month notice. 4. Next Meeting February 28, 2023 5. Adjourn The motion to adjourn was made by Bacett and was seconded by Jimmy. All approved.

Approve minutes from December 15 ,2022 3. Discussion Programming  CUB Solar Energy Event Fran/Baccet Fran and Baccet volunteered to work on the program. Fran explained that she has been in contact with recurring presenter, Peter Gore of ISEA.  CUB Saver Event Sam/Fran Sam and Fran volunteered to work on the program. Fran inquired about hosting the event in a different location in the Village and explained that she has attended events at Devonshire that were well attended. Alex explained that the lobby of Village Hall could accommodate the event, if needed. Sam explained that he and Fran will meet and provide more detail at the next meeting. Alex Sam and Fran need to tour some facilities  Cyber Security Program Avi/Scott_ Avi explained that he has a presentation prepared and that it would also pair well with presentations on home health technology. Avi explained that May 4, 2023 is Password Day and that it would be a good opportunity to have the Cybersecurity Event on this day Avi volunteered to lead the program and requested assistance from someone who is good with PowerPoint. Scott suggested creating a STAT PowerPoint template for use in future events. Barring any scheduling conflicts with the Police Department’s training room; the event is scheduled for May 4, 2023.  Home Medical Technology Syed/Baccet_ Syed explained that he would like to assist in this program. Sam said he will share his notes on the topic. (I have no notes after all.) need to engage Health Department.  Technology for Skokie Residents & Businesses: o Tech for Families Communicating with International Families Scott/Sam Scott explained that many people living in Skokie are likely communicating with family members living in different countries and that a program on technology that helps residents connect with family might be beneficial to residents. Alex will send Scott and Sam the age and demographic data of the Village. o Technology Glossary Avi Lead/All Commissioners Avi advised the group that many Skokie residents are likely not familiar with the names and acronyms associated with every day technology. Alex discussed the possibility of creating a glossary of technology and posting it to the STAT webpage. Avi added that the group could create mini-video presentations on the technology and post them to YouTube or link already created videos to the STAT page. o Survey Residents & Businesses on Technology Questions Scott/Alex (all contribute) Scott suggested that the group create separate surveys for residents and businesses that ask what technological questions that they would like answered or what technology programs they might want to see.  Village Science Fair Award Program Jimmy/Sam Jimmy explained that he has contacted the high school and is waiting to hear if the event is virtual or in-person. Science Fair to be on 3-4, Will provide a schedule.  Technological Excellence Award Jimmy/Sam Jimmy suggested that the Commission conduct a Village-wide technological excellence award where applicants will be rated on their application of technological innovations in their everyday life, businesses, etc.  Science & Technology Park Scott/Alex Scott explained that there are probably many Skokie residents that do not know what occurs in the Science & Technology Park. He further explained that this is an opportunity for a program that showcases the park and the businesses within it.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech Avi/Chris O Avi suggested that the Commission showcase how the Village is using technology on the STAT webpage. Avi and Chris Oh will meet to discuss the webpage. Alex explained that he can assist in the page development and providing content. 4. New Business 5. Next Meeting February 28, 2023 6. Adjourn
