Skokie Telecommunications and Technology (STAT) Commission Meeting Minutes Date: November 19, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Skokie Village Hall Conference Room A Attendees: Scott Shamberg, Alex Franz, Ken Grossman, Christopher Oh, Syed Mahmood, David Coyne, Richard Owen, Jimmy Gonzalez and Avi Nutkis. A local area student also was present. Absent: Michael Lamprecht 1. Welcome & Introductions Scott called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Motion by David Coyne. Seconded by Avi Nutkis. All approved. 2. Approve minutes from Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Motion by Richard Owen. Seconded by Avi Nutkis. 3. Discussion Higher Priority Programming  Cyber Security Event – Tier 1 Avi explained that the event was a success with approximately 40 people in attendance. Alex explained that video of the event is available on YouTube. Avi advised that a similar event will occur in May.  Home Medical Technology – Tier 1 Chris has developed a running list and will email it to Rich and Syed.  Smart Home Technology – Tier 1 Chris and Avi will connect in the coming months. The group agreed that a presentation/demonstration event format would be best.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech – Tier 1 Alex will begin developing the video in the coming months.  Technology Glossary – Tier 1 Commissioners have begun entering tech terms into the database with a total of 19 submissions received. Scott encouraged everyone to continue adding items.  Program About Navigation Aggressive Sales Tactics – Tier 1 Chris and new Commissioner, Michael Lamprecht, will connect to develop a one pager on navigating aggressive sales tactics.  Drone Photography – Tier 1 Jimmy will talk with Fine Arts Commission Char, Pam Garbarini. 4. Discussion Lower Priority Programming  General AI Program David and Avi will connect to discuss programming for a beginner level AI program as well as AI for business.  A table at the Farmers’ Market that could rotate amongst commissioners and Village Staff Alex will share the Market Managers contact info.  Program on new technology in cars Jimmy and David will connect prior to the next meeting. Alex advised that the Village has some electric cars that may be of interest for the event. 5. New Business  Ken advised that IDOT was not taking any time-lapse video of their bridge construction projects.  Jimmy explained that he will reach out to Niles North for information on the 2025 Science Fair. The Fair is typically the first weekend of March.  Rich suggested a video on the consumer as a product.  Alex explained the technology that the Village uses for purchasing vehicle stickers as well as how it is enforced. A discussion followed and Jimmy advised on the negative perception of the commission that might follow should the commission get involved. 6. Next Meeting The group agreed to cancel the December meeting. 7. Adjourn Motion by Christopher Oh. Seconded by Avi Nutkis.
