Economic Development Committee Meeting Wednesday, February 5th 2020 at 9:00 AM Approved Minutes 1. Call to Order: At 9:00 A.M. by Chairman Harold Barry 2. Present: Mayor Ron Gunter, Village Clerk Virginia Szymski, Village Manager Steve May, Chairman Harold Barry, Business/Resident Representative Bill Kalafut, Planning and Zoning Chair Doug Carmichael, Westmont Park District Representative Bob Fleck, Community Development Director Bruce Sylvester, Village Planner Nalini Johnson, Building Commissioner Jason Vitell, Economic Development Partnership Director Larry Forssberg, Deputy Liquor Commissioner Tom Mulhearn, Administrative Assistant Jaime Hofmann, Finance Director Spencer Parker, Public Works Director Michael Ramsey 3. Pledge of Allegiance 4. Public Comment - None 5. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Bill Kalefut, Second by Bob Fleck to approve the minutes of the January 8th, 2020 meeting. The motion passed on a voice vote. 6. New Business A. EDC “Workshops” - Economic Development Partnership Director Larry Forssberg gave the committee an overview of the upcoming EDC Workshops which will cover items related to Westmonts Strategic and Comprehensive Plan, Goals, Financial Aspects, Development Project Procedures, and Land-Use and Zoning items. There was discussion on the committee's history and voting procedures however it was decided that this would be discussed more in depth at the next meeting since not all members of the committee were present. B. Westmont Strategic Plan Workshop - This was continued to the following meeting since some of the newer committee members were absent. 1 of 2 7. Old Business A. Project Updates - a. Market Centre Project Update - Shell going up for Retail Grocer b. One North Cass Avenue Project - In review for PZC c. Quincy Station Project Status - Next key steps - March timing to begin construction d. 301 - 319 West Ogden - Demo in process, DuPage Medical Group has signed a lease e. Cass Avenue Dream Homes Project - Full speed ahead with project f. FMC Natatorium at Ty Warner Park - ETA is June g. Oakmont Point Update - Lease on second building is active discussions h. East Quincy Street Rezoning Steps In-Process. i. Retention Projects: Theracore Physical Therapy at 220 West Ogden, Blue Village Vinyl at 29 East Chicago, Las Palmas at 15 East Ogden, Rising Goddess Fitness at 204 East Chicago, Apple Valley Natural Foods at 27 East Chicago and Clemens Insurance at 81/2 North Cass Avenue j. 9 - 11 West Quincy project is under consideration, property is being closed on in February. k. Nature's Best Market is requesting an expansion of their parking on to a residential lot on Linden 8. Miscellaneous - A. Director of Community Development Bruce Sylvester Updated the Committee on the Following: a. Nature’s Best is looking to expand their parking lot across the alley to the East. b. 9-11 W.
