` Meeting - Public Information Committee January 27, 2021, 10:00 AM MINUTES 1. Call To Order - Chair Jinny Szymski called the meeting to order at 10:00am 2. Roll Call - Chair Jinny Szymski, Co-Chair Larry McIntyre, Mayor Ron Gunter, Manager Steve May, Dave Gullotto, Kristina Kaniauskaite, Mike Weibler, Julia Coen, Glen Liljeberg, Jenny Babyar 3. Pledge of Allegiance - NA 4. Open Forum - None 5. Minutes - Motion by May, second by Gullotto, approved by voicevote 6. 2021 Events ● Manager May provided an update re: status of community events - the Village of Westmont will not be able to issue any community event permits for events that use public property and/or resources as long as the State of Illinois Governor’s Orders don’t allow community gatherings due to COVID-19. ● The Village would like to connect the 100th Anniversary to all events if possible. ● It was recommended that any possible event that may need a permit should talk to the Village early to share the scope of the potential request. a. Public Agencies i. Village of Westmont - Several 100th Anniversary events will be covered later in the agenda; Weibler shared information regarding the current Pet Food Drive that benefits PRC ii. Library - Julia talked about the Library, they are open to the public for checkouts, they have a lot of online programs as well, the Library has free COVID safety kits that people can pick up, they continue to do curbside checkout if requested iii. Park District - They are working on their Winter Beer Fest To Go program iv. CUSD201 - N/A  v. Maercker School District - N/A b. Organizations i. WSEC - Summer events are on hold, working on several virtual events, working on a plan for St. Paddy’s Day ii. Chamber - N/A iii. Lions - Stella contacted us prior to the meeting to relay that they have no current events, the Lions are hoping to do an Oktoberfest with a Pow Wow Days theme in late September/early October, they will be discussing a 100th anniversary event as well iv. Rotary - They are considering a 2022 community calendar, they are planning a reverse raffle for the fall v. American Legion - They are working with the Park District to plan the dedication of an Eagle Sculpture at the Veterans Park, maybe for Memorial Day. c. Other - N/A 7. 100th Anniversary ● Completed - The following items were presented at the November Village Board Meeting: Public Works Building dedication, Anniversary Logo debut, Police Accreditation Presentation, Future of Westmont Contest, and reveal of new historical photos for Village Hall ● Current - The following are current 100th Anniversary projects/activities: History Book, Historical Society, Anniversary Logos are being placed on village buildings and vehicles, 100th anniversary flags are being made as well, Trivia Contest, 100th Anniversary Mascot Contest, 100th Anniversary Centennial Amber Ale naming contest and debut ● Other Events by Organizations - Julia said that the Summer Read Program will have a theme regarding Westmont’s Centennial Celebration - they are working on details; Also, the Library has ordered copies of the Historical Book so that it can be checked out ● Time Capsule - Mayor Gunter suggested that we consider opening the time capsule that the Village planted around the time of the bicentennial.  8.
