MINUTES
1. Call To Order - Public Information Committee Chair Jinny Szymski called the meeting to
order at 10:00am. This was a hybrid meeting in which guests could attend in person at
Village Hall or remote via ZOOM invitation.
2. Roll Call - by observation - IN PERSON: Village Clerk Jinny Szymski, Communications
Director Larry McIntyre, Communications Specialist Jenny Babyar; BY ZOOM: Village
Manager Steve May, Westmont Special Events Executive Director Kristina Kaniauskaite,
EMA Officer Greg Pantke, Rotary Secretary Elaine Carmichael, Chamber Executive
Director Larry Forssberg, Police Deputy Chief Brian Gruen, EMA Officer Dave Lincoln.
3. Pledge of Allegiance - Szymski led the group in the pledge of allegiance and then
turned the meeting over to PIC staff liaison Larry McIntyre
4. Open Forum - None
5. Minutes - McIntyre stated that the previous meeting minutes were shared with the group
for review; Motion to approve minutes from last meeting by Elaine Carmichael, second
by Larry Forssberg, approved by voice vote.
6. Community Events Permit Request Forms - McIntyre referenced the process for
making official requests to the Village of Westmont for use of public right of way and/or
village resources. For more information, please contact Brian Gruen or Deputy Village
Clerk Alicja Richards
7. 2022 Events & Calendar
a. Village Departments, Divisions, Committees
i. Communications - McIntyre reviewed several items
1. Upcoming Special Recycling Events - August 20 & December 3
ii. Police - Gruen shared info on several items
1. Coffee with Champions - FKA Cop on Top - Aug. 19
iii. Fire/EMA - Pantke shared info on several upcoming events.
1. The US Luge event went well, EMS provided traffic control at 55th
stPantke stated that this event always goes well.
2. EMS will assist at 4th of July
3. EMS will assist at Taste of Westmont
iv. Public Works - McIntyre reported on several items
1. Public Works is doing great with Cruisin’ Nights (CN) closing and
opening the streets; Westmont Special Events assists with getting
the cars parallel parked
2. There was a meeting between Communications and Fire and
Public Works (PW) to review logistics for TOW, CN Fire Truck
Night & CN PW Truck night
b. Public Agencies
i. Maercker School District - No Report
ii. CUSD201 - No Report
iii. Library - No Report
c. Community Organizations
i. Westmont Chamber - Forssberg provided several updates
1. Addington Plaza Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting - June 30 at
6:15pm
2. Pet Promenade - Sept 18 at 11am
ii. Lions Club - Forssberg provided several updates
1. Memorial Day.Spring Fling BBQ was well attended and went well
2. Installation dinner, Bob Fleck is Lions President for a second term
3. Lions Club assisted Make a Wish Foundation by sponsoring a
special Trike donation, the project was coordinated by Wish
Granter Jenny Babyar
iii. Rotary Club - Carmichael reported on several items
1. The new Rotary President installation will take place soon
2. The Rotary is working on their 2023 Community Calendar - they
are looking for sponsors and advertisers
a. Westmont Special Events will work with the Rotary
Calendar Project by creating and coordinating a
Community Photo Contest - photos from the contest will be
chosen and used in the calendar
iv. PRC - No Report
v. Westmont Special Events (WSEC) - Kaniauskaite reported on several
items:
1. Cruisin’ Nights
a. Going very well
b. July 21 - Public Works Night
c. August 4 - Fire Truck Night
d. Sept. 1 - End of Season All Village Vehicles Night
2. Taste of Westmont
a. July 7-10
b. 2 stages, 2 beer tents, carnival,
c. Headline music includes Simply Queen on Saturday Night
d. Volunteers needed for Cruisin’ Nights & Taste Of
Westmont. Any sponsors or vendors should contact WSEC
3. Creative Arts Network
a. Kristina shared several events
i. There will be 3 more Art shows on July 7, Aug. 4 &
Sept. 1
ii. There will be 3 more Art Classes June 23, July 21
& Aug. 18
iii. McIntyre mentioned that Babyar is the coordinator
behind the art shows and classes
d. Public Agencies
i. Park District - No Report

8. Misc. / Next Meetings - August 24 & October 26
9. Adjourn - Motion to adjourn by Forssberg, second by Carmichael, approved by voice
vote, meeting adjourned at 10:19am.
