Minutes ­ Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee Subcommittee of the Environmental Improvement Commission February 17, 2016, 7:00pm ​ancy Allured, Bruce Berenschot, Jim Knasel, Therese Kushman, Rita Nathanson, Bill Nieman, Carrie In Attendance: N Provost, Karen Saad ​arrie moved to approve the minutes and Nancy seconded. The minutes are approved. Approval of minutes: C Sub­committee reports: Bike Festival: Potential to combine Police Department Rodeo with Festival. Bike Recycling: No report. Bike to School: Ask Mayor to make Proclamation again, in April. Bike Valet: No report. Group Rides: Will schedule a variety of rides ­ different lengths, evenings, weekends, road, trail, etc. Data Collection: No report. Safety Classes: Classes scheduled through Wheaton Park District for May. Education/PR: Create business card for committee members and postcard to handout. Illinois Prairie Path: Shared highlights from IPP report. Business & Bikes: Many businesses in Wheaton, but many are very small. Consider materials for realtors. Recruiting new members:​Use common letter for members to send to friends, neighbors, etc. Letter can be customized, but sends one message. Will also tweak website to be more inviting ­ more of an invitation. School Safety Program:​Members will gather and create resources for school presentations. Goal is to avoid “re­creating the wheel” every time. Bicycling Presentations:​ Committee needs to educate the community about bicycling, especially how it affects and looks in Wheaton. Next Public Bike Committee Meetings:March 16, 7:00pm April 20, 7:00pm May 18, 7:00pm Meeting adjourned at 8:25pm
