Minutes - Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee Subcommittee of the Environmental Improvement Commission July 19th, 2017 Roll Call​: ​Chairperson, Dan Dlhy, called the meeting to order at 7pm. In Attendance​:​ Nancy Allured, Dan Dlhy, Rita Nathanson, Bill Nieman, Michelle Dunlap. Laurel Salvador and Paula Barrington from the Downtown Wheaton Association Approval of Minutes​: ​Dan Dlhy moved to accept the minutes and Michelle Dunlap approved and Bill Nieman seconded. The minutes were approved... Public Comment​: ​None Chair Report​: ​None Ongoing Business​: Bike Festival 2017: Paula Barrington has secured 300 bandana's which are a bright green color with our blue logo printed on it. She passed a few out to the committee members. Paula also has the signs and post cards and passed those out to the committee members to distribute throughout town. The prizes and giveaways are also in and Paula as them in her office. Committee members are to meet at Memorial Park at 9am on Saturday morning and will wear our green Bike Wheaton shirts. Paula Barrington will arrive at Memorial Park at 8am on Saturday morning and Dan Dlhy will be there to help set up tables and chairs. Enough tables and chairs will be available for the vendors and set up throughout the park with signage so they know where to set up. The D.J. will set up on the stage. Dan Dlhy will reach out to John Duguary, the Assistant City Manager, to see if he would like to be a Grand Marshall for the parade. Dan will also reach out to the City Council Members and the Mayor to see if they are interested in attending the festival. Dan also reached out to other city staff to invite them to the parade. Nancy Allured will create a list of the exhibitors for the Bike Festival as well as distribute the signs throughout the city and along the Illinois Prairie Path Bill Nieman and Nancy Allured will create a spreadsheet with the roles for the committee members for the Bike Festival. The route will be one lap around the downtown area, Karlskoga will blocked off for the parade and the Wheaton Police department will block off the other street along the parade route (Wheaton, Front and Hale streets). Wheaton History Ride: Michelle Dunlap reported that the Wheaton Preservation Committee will have a representative that will ride with us during the tour. Date & Time for this event will be September 23rd, 2017 from 2pm - 4pm. Bike Committee Thoughts & Ideas: New Business​: Dan Dlhy brought a copy of the Wheaton Residence Guide which highlighted the Bike Festival. Passed the magazine around to the other committee members to read and view. Dan Dlhy also reported that he was interviewed by Arin Thrower on the Wheaton Insider television program promoting the Bike Festival as well as other activities of the WBAC. The episode will be airing for the next month on Channel 10. Also discussed was the public meeting for the Illinois Prairie Path Re-Route on August 3rd from 4pm - 7pm at Metea Valley High School in Naperville, IL. Dan Dlhy, Bill Nieman and Rita Nathanson mentioned that they planned on attending the event. The waivers for the Group Rides were submitted to John Duguay (Assistant City Manager) by Dan Dlhy. Dan Dlhy also reported that the Bike Wheaton Flag Stand repairs will cost about $45 (per flag). The committee discussed whether we should purchase one or two new stands as we have two flags in storage. The committee decided that we will ask the E.I.C. for $120 for the repair of both flag stands. Other topics from Committee Members​: Laurel Salvador reported that the Wheaton Park District was able to complete the work on the path in Atten Park - bushes were trimmed for better visibility and lane separator and directional arrows painted on the path to direct traffic.
