Attendees: Alyse Kondrat, Michelle Dunlap, Nancy Allured, David Duve, Janet Gellert, Rita Nathanson,

I. Call to Order
II. Approval of Minutes
A. Laurel Salvador proposed to accept July minutes; Dave Duve seconded this. Accepted
unanimously by hand vote.
III. Public Comment
IV. Chair Report
A. David Duve – Accepted as new member
B. George Schmidt – Accepted as new member
C. Vote on 2022 Budget – Requesting a budget of $3,000, compared to $2,500 in 2021.
Motion to accept made by Michelle Dunlap, seconded by Laurel Salvador. Accepted
unanimously by hand vote.
V. Ongoing Business
A. History Ride -
• Date of ride is September 25th, 2-4 PM; rain date is October 2nd, 2-4 PM
• We will distribute flyers to library and bike shops
• Alyse Kondrat will work with city to make interactive map for the ride
• Rita Nathanson will propose a date for doing a virtual ride, with people posing
at the stops - Nancy, George, Laurel will join Rita
• Michelle Dunlap will arrange to record narration afterwards
B. Safe routes update –
• The Illinois Dept of Transportation (IDOT) has a program to provide $25k to
$250k for infrastructure related to Safe Bike Routes to Schools
• Bill Nieman reached out to John Duguay about city grant writer to attend two
webinars on applying for this funding. Bill will attend the webinars and update
WBAC and city mgmt
C. French Market recap –
• Bob Van Valzah is looking at September 11 as the next market day
• Bill Nieman asked John Duguay for temp bike racks for the north end of the
market; there are currently racks behind the portable toilets – hard to find
D. Roosevelt proposal –
• Rita Nathanson presented a draft proposal to modify the traffic
lights at MainSt and Roosevelt Rd to make this crossing safer
for bikes and pedestrians. The groups made suggestions for
improvement and modification of the proposal.
• A motion to approve the modified proposal was made by
Alyse Kondrat,seconded by Nancy Allured and accepted
by unanimous hand vote.
E. Winfield Rd proposal –
• Laurel Salvador created a proposal to improve the shoulder
between Mack Road and Roosevelt Road, using crushed
limestone. She sent this to SidneyKenyon.
• Alyse Kondrat motioned to approve the proposal and Rita seconded
this.
F. Changing wording of bike signs –
• At the July WBAC meeting, Sidney Kenyon suggested that the
WBAC proposeto change the wording of the Wheaton bike
route signs to say: “Thanks for using Wheaton Bicycle
Network.” The committee revied this suggestion. Michelle
Dunlap will pursue making the changes.
G. Printing of business cards – Alyse
• Alyse Kondrat discussed printing the cards with the QR code
for the WheatonBike map and with social media links
• Cost: $148 for 1,000 cards
• Moved by Michelle Dunlap to purchase at Alpha Graphics,
second by Bob, andapproved unanimously by hand vote.
VI. New Business
A. Leask Lane possible proposal –
• Michelle Dunlap proposed to take the Leask Lane bike route
from Butterfieldto Warrenville Road off of our bike route
maps
