Wheaton Bicyclist and Pedestrian Commission May 20, 2026 – 7pm Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hall, Wheaton, IL In person and Virtual meeting I. Call to Order/Roll Call: 7:02 pm A. Members present: Dede Barnicle, Michelle Dunlap, Rita Nathanson, Bill Nieman, Laurel Salvador, George Schmidt III, Nate Schwartz, Rick Tampier, Bob Van Valzah B. Members present via Zoom: None C. Unanimously approved via voice vote III. Public Comment A. None IV. Chair Report A. City Council actions: Reappointed David Duve B. Communications Department completed 2025 History Ride web page with videos; also edited the WBPC page V. Ongoing Business A. Run for the Animals Bike Parking Valet 6/6/26 – 1. Filled necessary slots from 6 AM to 11:15 AM B. Planning for September “Halfway There” History Ride celebrating America250 1. Coordination with Communications Department and Ride Illinois, Susan is aware 2. Date is: September 19th; Rain date is: October 3 VI. New Business A. Commission website cleanup 1. Remove Group Rides and Walks and material under this heading 2. Remove reference to 2023 history ride in blue panel on left B. Possible improvement to St. James Farm intersection: will WBPC write a letter recommending changes proposed by IPP? 1. Rick made motion to support; Dede seconded this; Laurel will create draft of support by WBPC C.
