Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes June 1, 2017 Call to Order and Roll Call At 5:37 p.m. the regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chair Cannova. The meeting was held in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, Illinois. Upon roll call, the following were present: Chair Penni Cannova, Commissioner Kevin Illia, Commissioner Thomas Schreiber and Commissioner Anne Wanzenberg. Also present were Deputy Chief Murphy, and Director of Human Resources Schulz. Commissioner Ed Dulaney was absent. Public Comment None Probationary Status Deputy Chief Murphy requested this item be postponed to the next meeting. Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Schreiber seconded to postpone consideration of this matter to the next meeting. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Schreiber Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Dulaney Motion Carried Unanimously Election of Officers Commissioner Schreiber moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to re-elect Penni Cannova to the position of Chair of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Schreiber Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Illia Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Dulaney Motion Carried Unanimously Chair Cannova moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to re-elect Anne Wanzenberg to the position of Secretary of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Chair Cannova Commissioner Illia  Board of Fire & Police Commissioners June 1, 2017 Page 2 Commissioner Schreiber Commissioner Wanzenberg Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Dulaney Motion Carried Unanimously Closed Session At 5:41 p.m., Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Schreiber seconded to go into Closed Session for the purpose of conducting Police Commander Promotional interviews. The motion carried unanimously. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Illia Commissioner Schreiber Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Dulaney Motion Carried Unanimously The Board returned to open session 8:19 p.m. Action on Closed Session Item Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Schreiber seconded to approve the candidate interview scores. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Schreiber Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Dulaney Motion Carried Unanimously Chair Cannova announced that all of the six candidates interviewed successfully completed the promotional testing process. Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Schreiber seconded to approve the Police Commander Promotion Eligibility List.
