Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes December 7th, 2017 Call to Order and Roll Call At 5:31 p.m., the regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chair Cannova. The meeting was held in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, Illinois. Upon roll call, the following were present: Chair Cannova, Commissioner Dulaney, Commissioner Illia, Commissioner Schreiber and Commissioner Wanzenberg. Also present were Police Chief Volpe, Fire Chief Schultz and Director of HR Schulz. Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to approve the minutes of the November 15th, 2017 regular meeting. The motion carried unanimously. New Business Approval of Firefighter Initial Eligibility List Chief Schultz presented the Board with the Firefighter Final Eligibility List. Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to accept the Firefighter Final Eligibility List. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Schrieber Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously End of Probation – Officer Lord Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Schrieber seconded to accept the written recommendation of Police Chief Volpe and appoint Officer Lord to full-time non-probationary status. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Schrieber Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously Review of Attorney Information Director of HR Schulz presented to the Board information from two law firms wishing to represent the Board moving forward. The Board reviewed the information presented and chose to set a meeting with the firm of Ottosen Britz. Adjournment Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:03 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
