Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes June 6, 2018 Call to Order and Roll Call At 3:36 p.m., the regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chair Cannova. The meeting was held in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, Illinois. Upon roll call, the following were present: Chair Cannova, Commissioner Dulaney, Commissioner Illia, Commissioner Haines and Commissioner Wanzenberg. Also present were Deputy Chief Murphy, Lieutenant Cooley, and Director of Human Resources Schulz. Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to approve the minutes of the May 9th, 2018 meeting. The motion carried unanimously. New Business Chair Cannova introduced and welcomed Susan Haines to the Board. Susan was appointed by the Wheaton City Council at the June 4th City Council meeting. Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to re-elect Commissioner Wanzenberg to Secretary of the Board. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Haines Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to re-elect Commissioner Cannova to Chair of the Board. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Haines Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously The Board reviewed the Rules and Regulations sections regarding the Police testing process and timing of the Psychological evaluation, and immediate disqualification criteria. These items will be reviewed at a future meeting. Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to go into Closed Session for the purpose of interviewing Police Officer candidates.  Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Haines Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to remove all remaining candidates from the Police Final Eligibility List. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Haines Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to go into Closed Session for the purpose of reviewing previous Closed Session minutes. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Haines Nays: None Absent: None Motion Carried Unanimously Adjournment Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to adjourn the regular meeting at 7:56 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
