V. Continuing Business:
A. Military Projects – Bill Gilbertson. Bill indicated that he hadn’t had any communication with Col.
Sanchez since December but still felt that the unit would be returning from Kuwait in July. Since the
residual funding left over from our sponsors and other cash collections will be carried over to the next bud-
get period he felt we would be able to plan an appropriate welcome home tribute to the 1st Battalion, 18th
Infantry Unit. We will also continue to plan our annual Stockings for Families Event next Christmas.
B. Cultural Diversity – Dan Loftus. No report (not present)
C. Make a Difference Day – Bill Gilbertson. We will be looking for specific activities to involve individuals
and groups in on that day. We will work to arrange for citizens of the community to sign up for the various
agencies that provide services for those in need. Tony Lyons will communicate with Wheaton’s High
Schools to get the students involved. We will also continue to support our adopted military unit through
this event. We will be looking to schedule a Chat with the Mayor and a spot in the Monthly Newsletter to
highlight our involvement in this event.
D. Serve Illinois/Cities of Service – Renee Webb. No report (not present)
E. Good Citizens – Vickie Miller. Vickie indicated that the Good Citizen letters and nomination forms were
printed and being distributed. They are available at City Hall, the Library, the High Schools or the City of
Wheaton website. The nominations must be returned no later than April 10. Banners were set up at City
Hall, the Library, Cosley Zoo and the French Market. We did discuss investigating the possibility of cater-
ing the reception to make it a very special event for the honorees.
F. Treasurer’s Report – Bill Balis. Ronnie met with Mayor Gresk regarding the elimination of our escrow
accounts and he assured her that any funds we collected from our event sponsors or from solicitations
would be maintained separately and carried over to the next budget period. Based on the current financial
data Bill has determined the following balances: CRC Sponsors Fund, $903.94, 2015 CRC Donations,
$2,876.50 and 2015-16 CRC Budget, $1,365.66.
