V. Continuing Business:
A. Military Projects -- Bill Gilbertson. — Bill considered the Family Stocking’s project a success this year
based on the letter and photos that were submitted by Captain Davis, Chaplain of the 1st Battalion, 18th In-
fantry. He did indicate there was some room for improvement in next year’s handling of the project. He
did feel that the contributions to the donations boxes were inadequate. He thinks more time should be spent
explaining to the people at the locations where the boxes are placed exactly what type of stocking stuffer
items are needed and show the pictures of the soldiers and children to emphasize how much they are appre-
ciated. He also suggested that maybe we should attend a meeting of the Women’s Club and see if we could
have them contribute gift items instead of just cash. A better job needs to be done on preparing the gift
bags, stockings, name tags and gift card boxes prior to the actual evening of filling the individual stockings.
If we are going to continue donating books to the soldiers Carolyn DeAre at Friends of the Library suggest-
ed that we contact her prior to their annual August book sale and she would be able to obtain quite a few
more for the troops.
