CITY OF WHEATON COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION Festival of Cultures Subcommittee Special Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, August 14, 2018 I. Call to Order: by Tony Asta at 7:03pm II. Welcome and Roll Call: Commission Members Present Tony Asta Leslie Day Julie Kulovits Erica Nelson Larniecia "Nominee" Smith III. Citizens to be heard None IV. Approval of Agenda Tony Asta moved and Erica Nelson seconded to approve the agenda V. Meeting Objectives/Goals The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Festival of Cultures planning VI. Meeting Synopsis Reviewed sponsorship with Leslie Avenue Bank inquired from the Chamber's E-Blast Madula Wellness Center inquired from the Chamber's E-Blast Commission members are encouraged to reach out to businesses and cc’d Leslie on it. Food Truck update with Julie We received our three commitments-Roaming Hog, Perk n' Pickle and Burritoville Julie believes that Perk n' Pickle sales drinks Islamic Center will participate  Larniecia gave an update for Wheaton College. Made contact there with two departments that are interested. Larniecia gave an update for the Filipino she reached out to. They are interested. Julie will go along with Tony and Erica for the walk through. Performances-Larniecia mentioned that Wheaton College Gospel Choir may be a better fit at a different event we host. Exodus and World Relief are working together. Wheaton College and the Fine & Cultural Arts are considering an interactive mural. Shayne will send a link for social media post. Shayne suggested yard signs. Julie suggested Shayne write on Wheaton Patch Julie suggested that tag lines include words such as: activities, food, music as a description to the yard sign will be good. Erica said she would gift the Commission with a banner w/our logo on it. Erica said she would ask her husband to donate six two-way radios. We need to inquire about Wheaton Police's presence at our event. We may ask for the Park District to fill out an in-kind sponsorship form. VI. Adjournment: Julie motioned to adjourn the meeting. Leslie seconded it at 8:14 p.m.
