Community Relations Commission

Citizens to be heard: IV. Approval of Minutes: Julie moved to approve the August minutes and Vickie seconded. The motion passed. V. Continuing Business: A. Finance: We receive budget as secondary source after we use our donations. Last year we received no donations. This year we have spent $4,945. Sponsor money from Festival of Cultures is $3,750. We need to talk to someone at the City about this to find out more information. We will resolve this issue with someone at the City. B. Communication: We are working to finish the Passport for the Festival of Cultures. Yard signs and posters are out around the city of Wheaton. C. Festival of Cultures: We are progressing. We have two music acts, four personal stories, interactive art mural, food trucks, over 30 cultural booths. D. Good Citizens: No Report E. Make A Difference Day:  On Saturday the 27th, the library will allow Food for Fines. Hoping that Studio Movie Grill will give out tickets for canned goods during a week in October. Hold a stuff-a- truck event on that Saturday. Possibly hold an Open House on Oct. 27 to meet us and recruit new members for the commission. F. Military Project: No Report G. Business Sponsorship: First Trust Portfolios provided us with $3,000. Three other $250 sponsorship: Precision Payroll, Downtown Wheaton, Wheaton Chamber. Will send ads for the brochure by Friday. Nominee will write thank you notes for Mayor and council members, as well as sponsors (8 total). VI. New Business: T-shirts will be handed out at the next meeting. VII. Adjournment: Julie moved and Tony seconded a motion to adjourn at 7:56 pm. The motion passed. Next meeting is Wednesday October 3rd.
