Wheaton Community Relations Commission Special Meeting Wednesday December 5: 6:30- 8:30pm Gamon Room I. Call to Order Gail call to order at 7 p.m. II. Welcome III. Approval of Minutes Julie moved to approve minutes. Colleen seconded. V. Citizens to be Heard None VI. Budget 2018 Closeout Budget for next year is $6,000. Our balance can carry over for next year, possibly, but Erik recommends we spend it if possible. We have $3,200 left over, $1,000 has been authorized to use for a video competition at Studio Movie Grill, but we may not have it done in time for the deadline. Erik is going to be transitioning off of the commission.  COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION MEETING AGENDA Month Date, Year VII. Mission/Strategy/Initiatives 2019  Our mission is to promote community involvement and volunteering.  Add more structure throughout the year, be careful we don’t take on too much.  Continue thinking about how to make things better, engage more people now that we have a solid start in place.  Establish a task force to let people know that we exist, and find out how we can help.  Create a way for other organizations to let us know what charitable things they are doing.  Create creating a community calendar that lists events that are going on in Wheaton.  Create a master list of volunteers that we could turn to.  Would be great to have our own Facebook Page for the commission.  Create logo for the commission  Sponsor events of other groups  Need to prioritize, and get those priorities accomplished.  Need to identify people outside of ourselves who can help us.  Meet key partners in the community to build more bridges within the community.  Have a councilperson assigned to our group to help facilitate.  Move meetings around to different locations in Wheaton.  Do a better job of engaging leaders in the senior citizen community, recently retired people.  We should all think about who we see as priority partners, who we could meet with and what to ask them, what needs to they see.  We should all attend a coffee with a councilman  Suggestions for who can invitees to meetings for 20 minutes discussion VIII.
