Wednesday, January 8, 2020 7 - 8:30 pm Gamon Room I. Call to Order 7:02 p.m. II. Welcome to visiting student Ryan Kammerzell, Eagle Scout at Gary Methodist Church III. Roll Call Present: Tony Asta, Colleen Attwell, Kay Frederick, Saleha Jwaid, Larniecia Smith Absent: Pam Cavanaugh, Marcella Incarnati, Erica Nelson, Krista Selvey IV. Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved for December 4, 2019 meeting V. Citizens to be heard: Visiting student introduced himself VI. Continuing Business a. Commission is actively looking for volunteers. Everyone to recruit! b. Social Media: No report. c. Sponsorship: No report. d. Make A Difference Day: Date is Saturday, October 24, 2020. Larniecia will continue to discuss with Commission on how to promote the day. e. Good Citizens: Date is Monday, May 18, 2020. Encouraged to promote Save the Date flyer. Spoke about going to schools to get younger people involved. Festival of Cultures: Date is Sunday, September 13, 2020. A request to use Memorial Park was put in to Wheaton Park District. Need team members for the following: Sponsorships, Food, Performance Stage, Communications (Public Relations, Passport Book, Photographs), Cultural, Site Management, Marketplace/Vendors, Kids Activities, Volunteer Management). Will continue to get high schools involved regarding artwork. Will do a Call for Art in February. Considering a Storycore Tent. Aiming for 2,500 attendees. f. Military Initiative: On December 13, 2019 picked up oranges and delivered to City of Wheaton Police Department, Public Works and Fire Department. g. Gail Forrest, Chairperson, will not be continuing on the commission. Thank you Gail for your excellent service and leadership! VII. New Business COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION DRAFT MEETING MINUTES January 8, 2020 Guest Ryan Kammererzell said he will look into how Eagle Scouts can assist during Festival of Cultures.
