Present: Tony Asta, Colleen Attwell, Krista Selvey, Saleha Jawaid, Meg Beasley, Kay Fredrick, Laura Peccarelli, Katie Sivak, Absent: Rachel Bautista, Jennifer Sever, Erica Nelson b. Public: Steph Henry IV. Approval of Minutes Tony motioned, Laura 2nd, approved unanimously V. Old Business a. Committee Updates i. Festival of Cultures – (Tony) 4 sponsors, $5250 total, the Ivy gave gift certificates. Art grant for an artist to create art that the public will also be able to add to with well wishes. 4 bands in place. 2 story tellers, looking for one more – someone who immigrated here, 5 min story. 19 groups, 3 pending, 13 to follow up, 9 to contact. Milton Township will be attending. Chamber of Commerce and DWA could help promote on social media. Possible mission project: Dignity for Girls. Posters finalized but on hold for printing, monthly newsletter has save the date, press release and social media posts on hold. Tony to send sign up for day of duties via email (again). Commission discussion and agreement to move forward with the event. ii. Make a Difference Day – on hold for 2021 iii. Veterans acknowledgement and support – no update iv. DEI – First Civil Rights March in Wheaton - panel discussion (WPL League of Women Voters, DuPage NAACP) v. Latinx heritage month (9/15-10/15) – discussion with WPL, CUSD200 on potential programs VI. New Business a. Discussion with potential new members – Steph Henry introduction b. Strategic planning and budget – Planning for 2022 events during upcoming meetings.
