COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WHEATON CITY HALL, 303 W WESLEY STREET, WHEATON, ILLINOIS 60187 Wednesday, March 4, 2026 7:00 to 8:30 pm Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hail I. Call to Order: 7:06 PM II. Roll Call: In Person: Dave Sohmer, Andrea Clayton, & Andrew McGady, Sharon Holtrop, Shauna Thorson Absent: Michael Hodel, Kathy Bushong, Tim March. III. Approval of Minutes Approval of minutes from February 4, 2026 regular commission meeting. Motion to approve by Shauna, second by Andrew - all in favor; none opposed. IV. Old Business a. Good Citizen award planning - CRC members have begun posting signs and posters around Wheaton. Andrew will receive the redacted applications and create a platform for the CRC to vote - possibly the second week of April Viking Awards will be the company that creates the awards. Selections will be made at the May 6th meeting. Budget for Good Citizen’s discussed. Responsibilities: Sharon — plates, napkins, cutlery; Tim - ice and ice bucket; Andrea - orders food from: Ivy, Chick fil A and My Half ofthe Sky and check on name tags; Shauna - flowers and drinks; Dave — table cloths. Greeter lower level: Tim; Greeters upstairs: Mike and Andrea; CRC Intro/overview - Dave; Awardee Introduction/Bios — Shauna; Hand Award to the mayor - Andrea; Arranging photo for recipients with the Mayor at the end ofthe ceremony — Sharon. Distributing signs to Good Citizens — Sharon and Kathy. Andrew — will send an email to the schools in the area advertising the Good Citizen‘s award. b. 250 Anniversary of America planning — Dave looking into flags and installation - W.G.N. Flags is the company option. The goal is to have the flags up by Memorial Day 2026. Dave and Andrew met with Cantigny to see ifthey wanted to partner with us about Home Town Hero banners Cantigny is open to partnering. Andrew will look into moving forward with the Home Town Hero banners with the City. c. “Autism Certified City or and Autism Friendly City” updates - No updates. V. New Business - None VI. Public Comment — None Dave will ask to move the April 1st CRC meeting to April 8th so we will be able to have a quorum. VII. Adjournment 8:43 PM Motion to adjourn by Sharon and seconded by Shauna.
