Public Comment: none
Budget Report: no report
Other Reports:
1. Bike Committee Report: Nancy Allured reported that DuPage County now has Sidney Kenyon
handling bike and trail information. Kay suggested that the bike committee have a public service
notice in the city newsletter when the time changes. Bike riders need to remember that it is dark
earlier/later, and they need to make sure they have adequate lights if they are riding at these times.
2. Electronic Recycling Report: Tony Majszak, Tony Pope, and Joe worked the November collection.
374 cars came through, 274 fluorescent bulbs and about 10 liters of cooking oil were collected.
3. Adopt a Highway Report: Nancy Flynn reported that EIC completed four clean ups of their area this
year.
4. Pumpkin Composting: Kay reported that 56 tons were collected in Illinois. Participants enjoyed the
chance to win a pumpkin pie in the raffle.
Upcoming Projects:
1. Electronic Recycling: December 9 crew chief will be Joe. January date may change. If it does, people
will be needed on the first Saturday for the collection and the second Saturday to give people the new
date.
2. Paper Shredding (April 8, 9-1): Kay reported that three trucks are reserved, and there will be a staging
area for people to remove rubber band and plastic covers.
Unfinished Business:
1. EIC Mission Statement: Shamili combined the two statements from last month into one. Brittany will
work on a concise mission statement and a vision statement with the action points.
2. Street Lamp Banners/Feather Signs: Christine will contact Susan Bishel for help with a logo. This
will be used in the feather signs and incorporated into the street lamp banner contest form.
New Business:
1. Banner Funding: no action
2. Sharps Disposal Funding: Kay is still investigating.
3. One Earth Film Festival: COD is holding a sustainability film festival and will partner with this group
for one of their films. She thought the commission might be interested in a similar partnership in the
future.
Adjournment: Nancy Allured moved that the meeting be adjourned. Nancy Flynn seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 8:50. The next regular EIC meeting is scheduled for January 24, 2017, at 7:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
