I. Call to Order: Chairman Ted Witte called the meeting to order at 7:35. Ted shared that he was
notified late this afternoon that meetings can still be hybrid and members can call in, as long as one
person is physically present. This is due to a Disaster Proclamation declared by the governor due to
COVID, and recently extended until September 19.
Present were, Cathy Coleman, Nancy Flynn, Brian McKee, Allison Torrence, Seema Wadia, and Bob
Young. Absent were Shamili Ajgaonkar, Tony Majszak, Kay McKeen, Tony Pope, David Popham,
Christine Richardson, and Jessica Wozniak.
II. Approval of Minutes:
Bob moved that the minutes from the June meeting be approved. Nancy seconded. The minutes
were approved by unanimous voice vote.
III. Budget Report:
Bob reported that $2966.55 remains open to spend.
IV. Public Comment:
None
V. Reports:
1. Electronic Recycling (July 10): Tony Pope had emailed a report that he and volunteer Jim
Truesdale, along with four E-Works employees, handled a steady stream of cars, about 200 bulbs,
about 10 gallons of cooking oil, and a lot of scrap metal. (August 14) David emailed that he and
volunteer Jim Truesdale and only three E-Works employees manned the collection till 11, when
two more E-Works employees arrived. There were pretty long lines most of the day—15-20
minute wait time. They collected about 12 gallons of oil, about 100 bulbs, and lots of scrap metal.
2. Adopt a Highway (July 17): Nancy reported that she, her husband Brett, Bob, Seema, and Nancy
Allured picked up 5 bags on EIC’s third clean up of the year.
VI. Upcoming Projects:
1. Electronics Recycling (September 11): Bob and Tony Pope will be crew chiefs for this event.
2. Adopt a Highway: (October 24)
VII. Unfinished Business:
1. Nurses’ Closet: Nancy reported that she is working out the details with the library and the city.

VIII. New Business:
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

1. Bulb Eater: Bob reported that the city approved the purchase of a new bulb eater, since the one
we had died. The last one was purchased during the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
2. Smoke Detector Collection: tabled
3. Cardboard, magazine, and phone book collection at electronics collections: tabled
4. E-Works would like to collect small propane tanks and empty spray cans for collection by Flat
Can. This would be a fee based program, and E-Works would collect the money. Collected items
would need to be stored at the yard area until picked up by Flat Can. Public Works will be
consulted on this.
5. Invasive Species: Brian offered to present info at meetings on invasive plant species
6. Funding for EIC events: none needed
IX. Adjournment:
Bob moved that the meeting be adjourned. Cathy seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15.
The next regular EIC meeting is scheduled for September 28, 2021, at 7:30 P.M.
