City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission March 24, 2015 City Hall Wheaton, IL Minutes 1. Call to Order President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 7:02p.m. Those in attendance: Sarah Antas, Tony Asta, Bill Austin, Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Greg Schreck, and Kathy Young. Absent: none 2._________Public Comment None 3. New Business A. It was moved and approved to accept the agenda. B. The November 24, 2014 and January 27, 2015 minutes were approved. Moved by Tony Asta, Seconded by Sarah Antas. C. New Projects: Franklin Art Walk – The walk is scheduled for the first Friday of May. Mike is working with Chris Grodowsky and will move forward as soon as Mike checks with City regarding our rollover funds. D. Rollover Funds – Bill and Mike will meet with City regarding the accounting for Music in the Park and how to maximize our matching funds. E. Large Art Placement – Mike met with the City and the only Park which is controlled by the City is Adams Park. It was suggested that the pavilion between the Park and the library would be an ideal spot to display art. Tony is looking into insurance and the logistics of seeking out apropos art. F. Directory – tabled G. Cultural Fest – Tony presented an initial proposal (see attached) that shows a breakdown of cultural diversity in DuPage County. It was received with great interest and Tony was directed to form a team to look into the possibility of having a cultural festival in the summer of 2016. H. Chalk Fest – Tabled I. Folk Music in the Park – Bill has started quest to schedule talent. It is scheduled for July 11. J. Banner Project. – Jay Davis sent request to purchase banners he designed. Mike will follow through. Mike will ask Paul for list of names and e-mail addresses of artists who participated in first banner project so that we can offer banners to them. K. Dee will send commissioners copy of original banner mailers. L. Greg introduced the idea of putting together some type of display and/or walk that would exhibit Wheaton’s participation in the abolition. Greg will check out feasibility and report next month. 4.
