New Business Pass on approvl of Minutes as no Minutes are available yet from last meeting. Motion made by Greg Schreck to approve Agenda. Mike Bock seconded. Moved. Motion amended to add David Hooker to New Business. Approved. Presentation by David Hooker re: History of Wheaton and Wheaton's relationship with the Underground Railroad. Mr Hooker is currently doing the "Sweep Project" in Will Co. Performance art-Mr Hooker is walking the 27 mile route of the Underground RR in Will Co. The project is taking about a year and a half to complete. He walks a couple miles at a time and sweeps his path as he goes, talking about the Underground RR (URR) to anyone who stops to talk to him. He also has postcards he hands out that he has made of historic areas along the route. Most of URR history in Wheaton centers around Wheaton College. Mr Hooker would like to do some sort of performance art in Wheaton relating to the URR, but he is not 100% confident of exact areas involved in Wheaton and would not want to do a 'walking sweep' unless he knows his path would be historically accurate. Mike suggested maybe some performance art for student groups or perhaps having students make postcards, which Mr. Hooker said are easy to make. Greg suggested incorporating African American art/artists in Wheaton along with a URR Project of some sort. Bill offered the use of the art gallery. Mr Hooker showed his video. His website is TheSweepProject.com. It was agreed that the next step would be to contact other members of the community who may be interested in supporting this type of project, namely David Moss and Glennette Tilley Turner and to have a meeting possibly on August 25th. 4. Old Business Bill talked about the Folk Concert. Said it rained so it moved to church. About 75 people attended Adjournment-Mike motioned to adjourn at 8:27. Greg seconded. Adjourned. Next regular meeting tentatively scheduled for September 29,2015 Respectfully submitted Sarah Antas
