I. Call to Order
President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. . Those present: Sarah Antas, Tony
Asta, Mike Bock, Laurie Swanson Oberhelman, Kathy Young. Absentees: Dee Hicks.
II. Agenda Items
Mike Bock moved and Sarah Antas seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried. Tony Asta
moved and Laurie seconded that the April 23 minutes be approved. Motion carried.
III. Agenda Item: Yarn Bombing
Carole Kohout and Leslie Marsh presented their idea of a yarn bombing day in Wheaton. Discussion
on the project and the main work issues. Carol committed to sending the city the park plan for the
yarn locations and to provide a formal proposal on the project. General agreement to review the
proposal to identify ways the commission can support the project.
Agenda Item: Bill Austin Recognition
Laurie Swanson moved and Mike Bock seconded that we adjust the amount approved for the Bill
Austin recognition from $200 to $234.50. Motion passed.
Agenda Item: Franklin Art Walk
Tony Asta moved and Sarah Antas seconded that we submit the permit to the city for the Franklin
Middle School Art walk so they can use Adams Park. Motion passed.
Agenda Item: Music in the Park
Tony Asta reported that the Park District is still examining policy on Saturday concerts at the new
bandshell. Awaiting more feedback so we can make decisions on the Music in the Park which is
traditionally held on Saturday nights.
Adjournment
Sarah Antas moved and Laurie Swanson seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 7:03. Motion
passed. Next meeting scheduled for March 24 at 6:00 p.m.
