Fine & Cultural Arts Commission

February 27, 2024, Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hall I. Call to Order Chair Lewis Achenbach called the meeting to order at 5:59 p.m. II. Roll Call Those present: Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Randy King, Lewis Achenbach and Vittoria Clay, and Sarah Antas. Also present: Bari Ericson from the Wheaton Library and Erica Nelson from the Community Relations Committee. III. Public Comments: Erica Nelson from the Community Relations Committee shared information on the Women’s Art Walk and the Walk with the Art League events. IV. Agenda: Dee Hicks moved, and Sarah Antas seconded the approval of the agenda with the addition of the Gallery Walk. Motion carried. V. Approval of Minutes: Vittoria Clay moved to accept January 30, 2023 minutes with the correction that the date be changed to October 24. Mike Bock seconded. Motion carried. VI. New Business: Public Art Sarah is working on a list of public art. Dee is setting up meeting with Wheaton Drama to demonstrate projection art. Addiction Art Request. Need more information. Will forward information via e-mail and discuss at next meeting. ( Carry over from January agenda) Community Relations request. This Commission would like us to make recommendations of women who are in the arts. Erica left forms with commission to use for recommendations. VII. Old Business 2024 Walking (Biking) Tour. We will help the Wheaton Bicyclist and Pedestrian Commission with their project. We suggest that they limit the Tour North of the tracks and Adams Park June 21 Make Music Day. Randy showed us samples of a logo to be used to promote the project.  FINE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Month Date, Year Mural restoration. The mural on College Avenue needs some touch up work. (Carry over from January agenda) VIII.
