August 26, 2025, Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hall I. Call to Order Chair Lewis Achenbach called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. II. Roll Call Those present: Mike Bock, Randy King, Lewis Achenbach, Vittoria Clay, Lynette Zelis and Sarah Antas. Absent: Dee Hicks III. Public Comments Bari Erickson, Wheaton Public Library: Chamber of Commerce is willing to partner with the commission on projects IV. Agenda: Mike Bock moved, and Randy King seconded the approval of the agenda. Unanimous Voice Vote. Motion carried. V. Approval of Minutes: Randy King moved, Sarah Antas second. Unanimous Voice Vote. Minutes approved. VI. New Business: None VII. Old Business City Arts Exhibit: Exploring public art projects. Will put in annual report as a project to potentially hang art in City Hall. Public Art Update: Exploring options, Digital Art still in play for French Market area, looking to keep matching funds and will explore options with city and grant organization. Arts Weekend June 19-21, 2026 Update: Aligned with Make Music Day which is on 6/21/26. Contacted Park District and ABC Committee. VIII. Commissioner Comments: None IX. Adjournment: Lynette Zelis moved, and Vittoria Clay seconded the meeting be adjourned at 6:26. Unanimous Voice Vote. Motion carried. Tuesday, August 26th at 6pm In Person Meeting: Gamon Room This Tuesday, August 26th 2025 Meeting of the Fine & Cultural Arts Commission will be held as an in-person meeting. Please note that civility and a sense of decorum will be strictly followed. The purpose of the Fine and Cultural Arts Commission is to: 1. Increase citizen access to the arts by providing leadership, advocacy, and the support for art that enriches the cultural vitality of our community. 2. Provide advice and work cooperatively with the city council to promote fine and cultural arts in the city. 3. Foster and promote an appreciation of fine arts within the city by enlisting and encouraging public and private agencies, as well as the general public, to support art and cultural events within the city. 4. At the request of the City Council, review and make recommendations directly to the City Council for artworks for public buildings and public spaces. 5. Assist in creating and maintaining a city-wide arts and culture webpage on the city website that includes links to art-related organizations and individuals who advance art in the city. I.
