VII. Old Business
a. Mattresses – FF Tabb presented two different models of mattresses from the company My
Green Mattress. This company builds their mattresses to order and uses healthier materials
reducing the chemical exposer to people sleeping on them. The two models presented were
the Kiwi which costs $622 and the Megan $517 per mattress, the turnaround time is 3 days
to a week and has free shipping. The Megan has a 10-year replacement warranty and the
Kiwi has the same 10-year warranty with an additional 10 prorated warranty. The Kiwi
model was recommended to us by the company and they stated they would include a
mattress protector for each Twin XL we buy. Both mattresses are 2 sided so during the
cleaning schedule the mattresses could be rotated and flipped to extend their life. The total
to replace all 21 mattresses with Kiwi Twin XL would cost $13,062 that includes free
shipping but the company will not haul the old mattresses away. Lt Hunecke stated that this
was cheaper than the other mattresses that he researched from other major mattress
retailers. According the My Green Mattress website the Kiwi 2-sided Twin XL cost $924
without a mattress protector.
Motion to Approve the purchase of 21 Twin XL Mattress not to exceed $14,000 Lt Hunecke

being researched but Lt Hunecke did not think so.

each member who would like one. The Streamlight Survivor X is the new and brightest coat
light that Streamlight offers. The model Lt Hunecke is suggesting the FFT buy is the alkaline
model which uses 3 AA batteries which avoids the complications of rechargeable batteries
that we experienced with the box lights. Each light is $65 each and Lt Hunecke also asked
the we buy AA batteries upfront to offset the immediate increased demand of AA batteries
which the city would have to pay for otherwise. FF Ackerman stated he has the older model
of this flashlight with the AA batteries and is satisfied with its performance. It was also

e. Militaur door chock- Lt Hunecke stated he found a new door stop and thought they would
be great for the fire department. The Militaur door stop is a molded piece of rubber that
wraps around a door and stops it from shutting. It's simply design makes it very versatile
and would work on most doors we encounter. A PD sergeant has one and Lt Hunecke was
able to see it work on a call. Each unit also includes a piece of paracord which can be used to
loop the door knob. Lt Hunecke would like to provided 3 per member along with ordering a
few for an inventory. According to the website the more you order the less you pay per unit,
if the FFT orders a total of 160 it would cost 5.00 per stop.
