Carhart Coats (0753) Presented by Lt. Hunecke. Purchase of Carhart winter jackets. Appx. $160-$165 per jacket. Order of up to 40 jackets possible. Motion to approve: Carhart winter jackets not to exceed $7,000: Lt. Hunecke Second: Chief Brill Discussion: Chief Brill discussed who will replace jackets if they become damaged or worn. If jackets are damaged on a call; the city would replace. Chief Brill recommends a one-time purchase before adding item to the quartermaster account to see how the jackets wear over time. Also discussed was how historically, items like this were added to the Foreign Fire approved items list and replaced on an as needed basis. Voted On: (0800hrs) Yes: Chief Brill, Lt. Motion to approve: To approve up to $300 for 2 pair of shoes and 2 inserts per person through Amazon or RedWing and is subject to a verification process by the Fire Chief: Lt. Hunecke. Second: FF Tabb Discussion: Chief Brill discussed an approval process prior to ordering to avoid returns and verify that the shoes meet the requirements of the policy. FF Baus asked if there is an option to personally cover expenses above the $300 limit. Lt. Hunecke stated that he will look into the possibility. Chief Brill discussed only allowing the purchase of one pair of shoes at a time to implement an as needed up to $300 to prevent over purchasing. Motion remains as initially proposed.
