Historic Commission

Tuesday, May 18, 2021 I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm. Present in person: Barbara Dutton (Vice Chair), Lori Bilske, Lisa Buchanan, Linda Moran, Bob Purdy Present virtual: Steph McGrath (Secretary), Diane Burant, Emelie Engling Absent: Nancy Flannery (Chair) Public Comments: none II. Approval of Minutes Minutes of the April 20, 2021 meeting approved as amended on a motion by Bob, seconded Linda, and passed unanimously. III. Old Business A. Site markers: The Down at the Depot and Chicago, Aurora & Elgin signs are made and awaiting installation. B. Preservation month: Discussed issues with putting signs up, overall it went well. Steph has been working with Gretchen Murphy at the Wheaton Public Library to get home history research and more sources included on the library website, not just for Preservation Month, but as a permanent feature. C. Annual report: No report. D. Officer election: The slate of Nancy Flannery for Chair, Lori Bilske for Vice Chair, and Steph McGrath for Secretary was moved by Bob, seconded by Lisa, and passed unanimously. E. Cemetery walk: Lisa is checking on the availability of parking at the nearby school and wondered about budgeting costs from available commission funds. IV. New Business A. Miscellaneous: Discussed past housewalks held in Wheaton and what organizations hosted them. V. Commissioner Comments Barb: Offered the May newsletter from Landmarks Illinois Bob: Offered the February newsletter from Landmarks Illinois Steph: Reviewed the recent home history research contacts VI. Adjournment Linda moved to adjourn, Lori seconded, the motion passed unanimously; the meeting concluded at 7:48 pm.
